Brakeless
Moose Mountain, Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada

Brakeless is one of three beginner downhill trails located on Moose Mountain; the other being Hot Laps and the considerably longer Family Guy. A short 70 metre push up the first section of this trail gets you to the start of the downhill. The first section of the down is slightly fast and steep with a number of bermed corners. This section ends as quickly as it begins and is followed by a very gentle rolling grade that will take you all the way down to the end of the trail, exiting onto Hwy 66. From there one can pedal left (east) to the start of Moose Mountain Road to meet up with your shuttle and do this run all over again, or head right (west) to the Ing’s Mine Parking lot to meet up with your shuttle buddies there.

There are no Technical Trail Features (TTFs) found on Brakeless, other than the bermed corners and a small half a foot hop at the end of the short and slightly steep bit. This is a great run to take your kids on for a spin or a good one for somebody new to the sport looking to try downhill riding.

Trail Location

Trailhead: The trailhead is located a short 2.4 km shuttle or pedal up from the bottom of Moose Mountain Road. Look for a large parking area on your left at about the 2.4 km mark. Park and look for the well mark trailhead heading off into the woods and starting with a short uphill push.
