Sale Mountain/ Martha Creek

Martha Creek trail, also known as Sale Mountain trail, is a stunning downhill ride that starts at 2,100 meters high in the alpine at the summit of Sale Mountain near Revelstoke. There is a BC Hydro Transmissions Tower located right next to the trailhead. This ride will blow you away with its incredible view of surrounding glaciers, high alpine lakes, mountain peaks, and with an amazing view of the Columbia River at the valley bottom.

The ride begins traversing through beautiful alpine meadows, before diving into the 1400 meter descent. This trail is a must-do; you get everything from techy steep switchbacks, to gnarly root sections, with the buffest singletrack in town.

Over 300 meters (1,000 feet) of boardwalks have been built on this awesome 9.4 km downhill ride from the alpine.

Trail Location

Trailhead: The start of the shuttle is 22.7 km north of Revelstoke, off Hwy 23 North. Look for your turn off (Sale Mountain FSR), on the right, a few kilometers past the Martha Creek Provincial Park. Leave a pick-up vehicle at Martha Creek Provincial Park and drive up the Sale Mountain FSR. The shuttle takes about 45 minutes up the 15 km dirt road, ending at the BC Hydro Tower. Look for the start of the trail to the east of the Tower.

Early season and late season

Early season or late fall may see snow near the summit. You can still ride the trail, if It is drier near the bottom, from around 1,600 meters.

Access:  Drive 21km north of Revelstoke on Highway #23N. Turn right on to the Sale Mountain FSR, and drive a further 15km’s of dirt road to the summit.  You will need 4wd to drive the last 5km’s of this road.  Specific mileage to the summit from the start of the FSR is: at 5.2km turn left.  Turn right at 11.3km (you are now in a large cutblock).  Turn left at 11.6km.  Turn right at 12.8km.  15.7km finds you at the top of the road at the tower.  The trail descends to the south.

Low Elevation Access:  At 5.2km turn right. go 2.8km and turn left.  Finally another 1.2km along, turn right.  As of Sept. 2011 the road is washed out here, it may be passed by bikers at low water.  The trail is found a few hundred meters down this road.  Mid Elevation Access (not passable by vehicle):  From the 11.6km junction go right for 2.8km.

    This trail has two sections were the wooden bridges have been broken so be carefull especially the one thats over a stream.. passable if you get off you bike and walk over
