Race of Spades

Moose Mountain, Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada

Race of Spades is a favourite downhill track among the locals, located on Moose Mountain. One of the longer descents, this ride is suitable for the intermediate to expert rider. The trail starts with a few short, tight, and steep sections, but overall is a moderate grade ride down to the Station Flats parking area. There are numerous Technical Trail Features (TTFs) on Race of Spades ranging from intermediate to expert in difficulty. All TTFs do have a ride around option for the less experienced rider.

A short, but steep hike-a-bike section is found about 2.4 km down the trail – 200 meters in length. The section starts after the long skinny ride that features a teeter, thrown in to test your balance and bike handling skills. Following this section is more descending through tights trees that take you to larger TTFs , all with ride-around options. Finally the trail spits you out on a double track. Keep right at the junctions, cross the bridge, up the mini hill, and follow the double track out to the Station Flats parking area.

Race of Spades is a part of the Moose Mountain trail network. Visit the Moose Mountain trail page, for more information on the trails that make this area so much fun to ride.
