Long Road to Ruin

Long Road to Ruin is the name for the new singletrack trail connecting the Coal Chutes with Artistic Merit up at the Canmore Nordic Centre – Canmore, AB. I took a spin on it this evening – after reading about it in the latest e-news sent to me by the Nordic Centre – and was impressed with how long, Long Road to Ruin actually is. Just over two kilometers in length, the sweet new singletrack trail may be ridden in both directions and offers some awesome switchback descents or fun gradual climbs. A great intermediate trail offering the beginner rider a reasonable challenge, while staying super fun for the intermediate to advanced rider.

A word of caution, the trail is very new and still needs to be cleaned up – especially in the first few sections of trail connecting to the Coal Chutes. Watch out for a large number of branches and roots sticking out on the trail – some of which I attempted to remove, but could not without the proper equipment. Please take care when riding the trail, so that you don’t get a stick in the eye or shoulder while barrelling down the decline.

I’m really impressed with the trail and am amazed at how quickly it was built. A big THANK YOU to all the volunteers and the hard working Nordic Centre trail crew for making this trail a reality. Long Road to Ruin is a great new addition to the plethora of x-country trails the Nordic Centre has to offer.

Happy Trails!
