Mystery builders add new stunt to Mosquito Bite

On October 29, 2010, in Alberta Trails, Canmore Trail Reports, by bikepirate

Took a spin down Mosquito Bite tonight – it was cold out, but okay once I bundled up – and to my surprise found another well built stunt added to the trail. This one is a double suspended bridge and it’s super fun to ride; a nice little feature that adds to the trail and [...]

Reclaimer; enough said

On October 14, 2010, in Alberta Trails, Canmore Trail Reports, by bikepirate

The amazing fall weather we’ve been having is sticking around and I know by the sheer number of hikers, runners and bikers getting out in the Bow Valley that everyone is trying to take advantage of what is proving to be one of the best fall seasons we’ve had in a number of years. I [...]

Those Cows are the Devil

On October 10, 2010, in Bragg Creek Trail Reports, by bikepirate

Rode Race of Spades (Moose Mountain) and ran across a few cows trying to make their way down the trail. It’s not very often that you run into a herd of cows downhilling, but I guess anything can happen when you’re out playing in the woods.

Race of Spades …may be okay for twinkle toes after all

On October 2, 2010, in Alberta Trails, Bragg Creek Trail Reports, by bikepirate

We had a blast riding Race of Spades at Moose Mountain (K-Country) today. After driving the hour out from Canmore, we thought our day was done before it started when we found out that a pair of riding shoes were left behind. Luckily, we quickly learned that duct tape solves all problems when wrapped around a pair of ballet flats.

One great lap at Mount Seymour

On September 22, 2010, in British Columbia Trails, Vancouver Trail Reports, by bikepirate

I love mountain biking! It’s a great way to clear your mind and get some exercise after a few busy days in the office. Working in Vancouver this week got me out to ride Mount Seymour. I arrived at my usual parking spot (Old Buck Parking Lot) and peddled my big bike up Mount Seymour Road past the 5km mark.

Wet, muddy, slippery and slick …that about sums it up

Our last day in Whistler was a blast! And we all got away without any major injuries, a great way to wrap up the downhill season.

Day 4 Whistler Bike Park

On September 17, 2010, in British Columbia Trails, Whistler Trail Reports, by bikepirate

We got on Freight Train to start and managed to ride A-Line, Crank It Up, B-Line, Smoke and Mirrors and Devil’s Club. We did a few laps on Crank It Up and A-Line; one last time to enjoy the wicked flow and sweet table tops both trails have loads of. All trails were in descent condition.

Day 3 Whistler Bike Park

On September 16, 2010, in British Columbia Trails, Whistler Trail Reports, by bikepirate

It was a beautiful day of riding at the Whistler Bike Park. The sun came out and it was a comfortable 18 degrees today. The trails were a little wet from all the rain that came down yesterday afternoon which carried on into the night. Rode Blue Velvet and Freight Train – the top part of Freight Train is closed.

A Blue day at Whistler

On September 13, 2010, in British Columbia Trails, Whistler Trail Reports, by bikepirate

Rode Whistler Bike Park today and had a blast! The sun was out and the temperature was a comfortable 18 degrees. The trails were wet from the down pours which occurred on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. I believe this kept the crowds away and made for a quiet day on the hill.

Star Wars in Banff, all kinds of fun!

On September 4, 2010, in Alberta Trails, Banff Trail Reports, by bikepirate

Great ride on the new trail in Banff; Star Wars. It’s a super fun flowy freeride trail with a few wood features, great bermed corners and a big wall ride. The Bow Valley Mountain Bike Alliance (BVMBA) has worked hard with Parks Canada to get this trail approved and made history by building the first freeride trail in the Park (at least the first legal freeride trail in the Park to my knowledge).
