Bill Milne Bike Path
Kananaskis Village, Alberta, Canada
The Bill Milne Bike Path (formerly named Evan Thomas) is a fully paved path connecting Kananaskis Village to the Wedge Pond Day Use area. This path is great for families and the young and young at heart. Similar to the
Banff Legacy Trail, but further set-back from the highway (Hwy 40), the Bill Milne is a nice and easy pedal for all to enjoy.
The fully paved path gently winds and rolls along the Evan Thomas Creek, crossing it in several places. No major elevation gain on this ride, just sit back and enjoy the mountain views, the diverse vegetation, and the soothing creek running mostly parallel to the path. Bill Milne may be ridden as an out-and-back or taken as one-way trail if you’ve arranged to have someone pick you up along the way or at the Wedge Pond carpark. It is a multi-use path, so watch out for dog walkers, hikers and kids on trikes. About 8.5 km down the trail, when starting at the Delta, stop at the Mount Kidd RV Park for a snack, a refreshing beverage or a delicious ice cream, if you’re in need of a pick me up. Bring your swim trunks and go for a dip in Wedge Pond to cool off on a hot day, before beginning your pedal back to Kananaskis Village.
This is not a singletrack ride or a ripping trail, but rather a nice and mellow path for when you need a break from climbing or looking to spend some time with the family on two wheels.
