Dean Martin

Dean Martin is a great intermediate singletrack trail that hugs a ridgeline for most of the route and serves as a fun connector to Snowden Demonstration Forest riding area. This trail is part of the Pumphouse Trails network, located a short pedal from Campbell River. For the most part this trail is an intermediate ride, taking the rider through a lush rain forest, with but a few short advanced technical sections near the end of the route. The advanced sections are mostly rock slabs providing a challenge to the rider looking to ride up and over them, especially when they are wet. If you’re not up to the challenge, push your bike up or around these short technical bits.

If you’re looking for a short jaunt and want to hit up some fun Campbell River singletrack, then this is a must do ride. There are many short and intertwining trails heading off to the right of Dean Martin which can be fun to explore if you have the time and patience. Once you get to know the area, you can combine many of these to form various routes to ride. Since this area is not signed, creating a loop is bit of a challenge. My suggestion is to hook up with one of the local bike shops (there are four in town) and head out with them on a group ride to get familiar with the area.

When riding Dean Martin west towards Snowden trail network, keep left all the way out along the trail until you reach Lower Deliverance/Alligator Rock, the start of the Snowden trail network. Lower Deliverance/Alligator Rock is located right across Brewster Lake Road.

Trail Location

Trailhead: Ride or drive west on Hwy 28 towards Elk Falls Provincial Park and Snowden. Turn right (north) on Duncan Bay Main FSR and drive/ride across the bridge and up the gravel road to the pull off parking area located on your left, west side of the road, about 650 metres up the gravel road from Hwy 28. Dean Martin is located just past the yellow gate located at the south end of the parking lot. Ride past the yellow gate and look for a steep climb to your right heading up the singletrack trail. This is the start of Dean Martin.
