Devon MTB Trails

Devon, Alberta, Canada

The Town of Devon has rebranded itself as Bike Town and is working towards attracting cycling enthusiasts to the area. Their network of mountain bike trails, which mostly runs along and above the North Saskatchewan River, currently numbers close to 16 kilometers when looped. Most of the trails are intermediate, with a few advanced technical sections. The riding is moderate to hard due to the steep doubeltrack and singletrack assents. The short, but fast steep downs also make things exciting and keep you on your toes.

If you live nearby, love to ride your mountain bike, and are looking for a fun new area of trails to explore, than Devon may be worth checking out. One thing is for sure, you will get a great cardio workout riding these trails. The suggested loop for download (below) is over 14 km in length and has close to 400 metres of climbing.

I’m excited by the possibilities when exploring the area Devon has slated to further expand their network of mountain bike trails. This is still a few years away, but if the Town sticks to its vision Ensuring that everyone, regardless of their age and skill level can come to Devon for an exceptional ride complete with beautiful scenery, then we can expect to see more new trails added soon.

Trail Location

Trailhead: Access to the trail network can be achieved via various points throughout the town. Our recommendation is to park at the Grounded Coffee Shop, grab some fuel for the ride, and head out from there. Grounded is located on the corner of Superior Street and Saskatchewan Avenue. From Grounded ride north on River Drive (gravel road) and follow it around and past Rideau Street. The trailhead is located on your left; look for a wide opening and a trail heading into the woods. From there pick your own adventure, download the map, or follow our suggested GPS loop.

May 7, 2013, Devon MTB Trails. 80% dry, 20% wet mud. Avoid area in campground without power hookup camp sites. (Far North Side), it is really wet and sticky drive train ruining mud. Get out and ride, no excuses anymore.

April 21st, Devon MTB TrailsDevon, Alberta. Fat bike ride. Trails were 80% hard packed snow covered, 10% slush and 10% mud. All rideable, (on a fat bike for sure) including all climbs and descents
and sloppy mud sections. Be careful on the pure ice sections of the
far south west side of the trails, hard to miss it tho…..With warmer weather this week, expect more slush and mud to reappear, meaning it will be wonderful messy fun.
