Elbow Valley Trail
Moose Mountain, Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada
Elbow Valley is a challenging singletrack trail that takes you from Station Flats parking over to the Powderface Creek / Prairie Creek Loop
. You can ride this singletrack either direction, loop it with Sulphur Springs
or use it as a connector to the Powderface parking area.
Starting from Station Flats follow the Elbow Valley trail west on the wide singletrack; passing by the Diamond T-loop turn off to your right and the Sulphur Springs turn off another few hundred meters thereafter. The trail begins to climb once you pass the Sulphur Springs trailhead. Expect long, steep, and loose climbs, followed with some sweet technical descents. The fast singletrack descents are tight and narrow adding to the excitement of your ride. About halfway through the ride you will end up on a tight singletrack section that follows a cliff ban as you descent down to Ing's Mine Road. At the bottom of this descent, you will need to cross a creek (typically runs dry) before popping out on Ing’s Mine Road. Look for the well-marked trail continuing on into the woods, on the other side of the road. From there begin your climb up the trail, crossing the Husky Road (gravel road) and making your way up to a small junction, not marked. Stay left and continue on all the way to Powderface day use/parking area. If you choose right, you will continue to climb and eventually come to a dead end.
