Lake Dispute to Moke Lake
Queenstown, New Zealand
This beautiful out and back trail is worth the spin if you’re looking to take in some of New Zealand’s best scenery. Aside from the hard singletrack grind up from the road, the rest of the trip is quite enjoyable. The trail is a mixture of 70% singletrack and 30% 4WD track.
The first section of the trail, right off the Glenorchy Road, is a hard, relentless, grind up. After that things get a lot easier. The singletrack trail turns to a 4WD track that hugs the Lake (Lake Dispute). Head in the direction of Moke Lake - a large sign will point the way. At the end of Lake Dispute track, you’ll be faced with one more climb before you reach the start of the Moke Lake singletrack. From there, follow the track all the way to Moke Lake campground; be sure to watch out for all the cows grazing. The trip back is super fast and flowy, so enjoy, you’ve earned it after all the climbing.
Don’t forget your swim trunks; jumping in the Lake after the two tough climbs is well worth the trip.
