Powderface Ridge Trail

Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada

Stop right there, do not read any further if you don't enjoy suffering. This ride is intense! It starts with a steep rocky and rooty climb that is relentless for the first two kilometers. If you like taking your bike for a walk, than this ride is for you. Expert riders will have a tough time cleaning the first bit, a definite challenge. At the 4.6 km mark you will pop out of the woods atop Powderface Ridge. Here is where you’re rewarded for all the hard work; amazing 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains await you. The trail splits at this juncture, stay right (north) to meet up with Powderface Creek Trail and begin your descent left (west) to Powderface Trail (dirt road). The fast, windy and switchbacking descent, will keep you on your toes and provide some excitement as you cruise down to the dirt road. Near the bottom of the descent the trail splits again, follow the marker right to enjoy more sweet singletrack instead of taking the whole shot out on the doubletrack trail to the road.

Powderface is a multi-use trail, frequented by equestrians and hikers; please give right of way to other users if you decide to take on this adventure. Ride it as a loop connecting to Powderface Trail (dirt road) and looping back to your vehicle. Or, loop it with Powderface Creek Trail or Prairie Creek Trail if you’re looking to extend your ride.
