Scotty’s

Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada

Scotty’s is a super fun and technical trail that twists, turns, and winds up and down along a narrow singletrack surrounded by lush vegetation. The trail is a part of the Snowden Demonstration Forest trails network and may be ridden either direction. Expect rocks, roots, and rock slabs along this tight singletrack trail. A fantastic lookout over Lost Lake (Mike’s Bluff) is found halfway down the trail, offering some great views of the surrounding area and the lake below. Scotty’s is sure to challenge the experienced rider with its technical singletrack and short trial sections up and around corners.

Riding Scotty’s surrounded by the lush rain forest is a fantastic experience. My favourite part on the trail, aside from all the exciting singletrack leading up to it, is a tight descent along a rock wall fully covered in moss – you’ll find it illuminated when riding in very low light. A spectacular sight for those of us not from the Island.

You can ride Scotty’s complete, although the last section before Taint is not as fun as the rest of the trail when riding it east to west. Most locals cut out the last few hundred metres of trail, exiting via Taint to Riley Lake trail. The choice is yours.
