Spray River Loop

Banff, Alberta, Canada

This fun family trail takes you out along the rushing Spray River and back to Banff. It’s suggested that you start at the Fairmont Banff Springs, as the trailhead is well marked and easier to locate. The trail is all doubletrack and connects to Goat Creek if you decide to be adventurous and ride to Canmore.

Ride Spray River as an easy loop, or an out-and-back; the choice is yours. The trail is an easy pedal and exposes you to some great views of the surrounding mountains. As it is a multi-use trail, please yield to pedestrians and horses.

Trail Location

Trailhead:
Fairmont Banff Springs trailhead is located at the back of the hotel. Drive/ride straight through the roundabout towards the parking garage. Keep going past the parking garage to the small carpark at the end of the road. The trailhead is well signed and starts here.

To access the trail via the Bow Falls parking lot, park at Bow Falls and ride over the Golf Course bridge. The trailhead is about 200 meters on your left once you cross the bridge. It’s not as well marked; keep your eyes open.

Rode this may 4th/13, still muddy in sections but nothing serious. Great loop for a few hours ride or stretched out for a half day adventure. Great views of the river and a good chance to see wildlife. It’s good for beginners or to find your legs!
