Terrace South

Kananaskis Village, Alberta, Canada

Terrace South is a singletrack trail with minimal elevation gains that runs high above the Kananaskis River and Golf Course. The only true singletrack trail found right at Kananaskis Village’s doorstep and a great ride to explore. Mainly ridden as an out-and-back, the trail may also be ridden one-way, from either the Village or from the opposite end starting at the Galatea day use area, or as a loop. To ride Terrace South as a loop, combine it with the Bill Milne Bike Path (paved) creating a ride just under 20 kilometres.

There are a number of great viewpoints along this trail that overlook the golf course and river below. A short creek bed crossing is thrown in for good measure, which may keep things interesting during the spring months when the creek runs high and may be found impassible. The crossing is found at about the 5.7 km mark down the trail.

The Terrace South singletrack is mostly buff, flowy, and fast, with a few rooty and rocky bits found south of the creek bed crossing. The last part of trail crosses over the Kananaskis River on a wooden suspended bridge, well worth checking out. Following the bridge is a short pedal up a steep hill which provides access to the Galatea day use and parking area.
