An awesome play/practice park for mountain bikers with a network of fun and flowy singletrack trails about 7km from town. There are loads of trails with berms, jumps and wooden log rides fully suited for x-country and all-mountain riding. This is a great area to warm up and brush up on your skills before doing a day on the Skyline Gondola or a Heli-Bike trip.
Pick up a map of the trails at a local bike shop. We popped in to Vertigo Bikes, just on our way out of town. The map costs $5 and well worth it.
A great warm-up loop is the dual use track to Eagles Nest, up to Kachoong and back down to The Hub. From there you can choose to head back to the parking lot or check out the other loops. The Hub has a detailed trail map and includes a skills area.
TRAILHEAD | S45 03.647 E168 34.065 (WILSON BAY)
The trailhead is located about 7 km west of town. Take 6a west to Glenorchy and park at the Wilson Bay Carpark. It’s the second Carpark, which provides better access to the trails. From there you can reference the map located in the Carpark, or your copy purchased at local bike shops.
