Cakewalk is mostly a fast and flowy, singletrack descent with a variety of natural and manmade features. Expect steep, naturally technical sections as well as a couple of jumps and numerous bridge works which includes several high creek crossings (much safer now than they use to be). An advanced run, Cakewalk is well suited to the experienced trail and downhill rider. Check your speed down the large drop to flat landing found halfway along the trail, and watch out for the awkward step-up located on a large bridge crossing one of the creeks. There are ride around options for the large features, drop and gap. All bridge work is nice and wide.

Cakewalk begins down several flowy switchbacks, followed by some steep, rocky and rooty line choices. More flow, followed by wood work, bridges, drops and a gap, all end on an old logging road. Turn right to push up to Full Nelson or left to descend down to the Half Nelson parking lot.

Park at the bottom of Half Nelson on Garibaldi Park Road and enjoy arduous climb up through a small group of homes, or shuttle, turning left at the only road junction. Approximately 1 km up from the switchback and park sign you will see the signed trailhead on your left.
