Chesire Cat is an incredibly fun and exciting advanced singletrack trail located in the Cat Lake area. The trail is one of a few non-motorized trails located here, and is accessible via the Cat Lake campground. A cross-country descending trail, Chesire Cat features some exciting TTFs (technical trail features) along its route; including a long log ride over an ancient growth found about halfway down the trail. There are several more sections of wooden ramps, along with a ton of roots and rough rocky sections to keep you on your toes. The trail is built to be descended from the north end, while climbing up it is not recommended. Now with the addition of Section 57, you can loop Chesire Cat by climbing Section 57 (most prefer to descend this trail) or access the trail by riding the Cat Lake FSR as was done by all riders in the past.
Chesire Cat begins from the northeast end of Cat Lake with a relatively flat pedal out along an old logging road before the first short climb up a narrow singletrack. From there you’ll descend down to the first wooden feature over top the fallen log, followed by the famous log ride that is a few feet off the ground. The trail continues ahead and into another climb taking you up a few steep switchbacks. The climb is followed by a hillside descent, crossing several more rolling TTFs before spitting the rider out near the hydro lines. From there the trail meanders underneath the hydro lines and over to a wide bridge crossing a gorge. The bridge does not have any railings and is built on an incline. The approach to the bridge is down a sharp switchback, making it very difficult to ride up onto. Please walk this bridge when heading up it. The trail finishes on the east side of Hwy 99. Ride south along the shoulder for less than 20 m to the well-marked trailhead for Chesire Kitten (trailhead sign actually states Chesire Cat). Continue your ride along Chesire Kitten to the Alice Lake Recreational Area turnoff.

The trailhead for Chesire Cat is located at the northwest end of Cat Lake, at the Cat Lake campground. Access the trailhead by riding or driving up the Cat Lake FSR, located about 3.5 km north of the intersection of Alice Lake Provincial Park. Take Cat Lake FSR to Cat Lake and ride counter clockwise around the lake on the campsite road. Above the first swim area you see, look for the pedestrian bridge and ride under it for 80 m to the well-marked trailhead for Chesire Cat – located on the north side of the trail.
