Farside is a fun and very flowy beginner to intermediate trail located in Whistler south, across from Function Junction. The trail parallels the eastside of the Cheakamus River and is best looped with Riverside for a scenic ride along the River’s bank. Farside and Riverside are great trails for families to enjoy and may be ridden in either direction. When looping Farside with Riverside, pedal south towards the incredibly scenic suspension bridge known as McLauren’s Crossing and come back north along Riverside. You may ride the loop in either direction; however, for maximum flow and a little bit less exertion riding the loop from Farside to Riverside is recommended.
Access to Farside trailhead is found on the Eastside Main access road, the dirt road which leads to Cheakamus Lake Trail. The buff, wide and smooth pathway winds its way through the forest along the bank of the river. There are many short ups and downs along this undulating trail, and a few steep inclines that will challenge unfit riders. Although the trail is rated beginner and still a good one to explore with your family, it does contain substantial grades to be climbed when ridden in either direction. A number of incredible viewpoints are found along the trail for all to enjoy. For the experienced advanced rider looking for a fun loop in the area, consider riding Farside to Highline and ending on It’s Business Time.
