Frisby Ridge is one of two high alpine cross-country epic rides located in Revelstoke; Frisby being the less technical one. Finished in the fall of 2010, Frisby Ridge is not a physically easy trail to ride. It’ll push you with its long 10.5 km ascent and over 800 meters of elevation gain up into the high alpine, yet drop your jaw on its insanely fast, flowy and jumpy descent back to your car.

An out-and-back trail, Frisby leaves you with little time to warm-up as it throws you right into your ascent. Luckily, the climb is a gentle low-gradient pedal up an ultra-smooth singletrack trail built specifically for mountain bikes. Once you round the last corner of lush forest, the trail will burst into view of a massive basin and you will be treated to endless views of the surrounding mountain peaks. Ride a little farther to the highest point and then take a quick descent down to a small lake located next to a sled cabin. Jump in the lake to cool off. But, be warned, it’s definitely a chilly one! The lake is the end of the trail. Turn around and head back up to the start of your descent. Enjoy the ride back down to the trailhead across rollers mixed together with all sorts of doubles and fast sections of trails zipping through the trees; railing loamy corners and trying to drop your buddy, makes the pedal up well worth it! Just be careful for oncoming riders ascending the trail.

Caribou closures: Frisby Ridge closes for a short period during the start of the Caribou season and usually does not open until July 15th annually as a result. Check our Trail Report for the latest update.

Firsby Ridge is a great trail to ride during a full moon. Pack your headlamp and remember to bring your bear spray, before you venture out into the dark.
