Giv’r is located in the Mackenzie Area and was designed by Nigel (trail builder) as a climb, although many riders use it as a bypass to a tough technical section found halfway down Indy 500 – avoiding the eroding slab on the trail. It may also be descended to start of Waco Connector, from where one can catch Lower Mackenzie Cruise to finish off their ride. Climb Giv’r from Happy Trail to connect with Shama and bypass the long and flat switchback found on Waco Connector where Happy spits out. The trailhead for Shama is located at the junction with Indy 500 and easy to spot. Nigel built Giv’r as a part of a climb that connects a series of trails all the way to the top of the mountain, forming a 16.5 km route. 15 years in the making, Nigel’s vision of an epic climb to the top of Mackenzie was realized when he put the finishing touches on Shama in the fall of 2013.

When climbing Giv’r look for the trail to start at the end of the Happy climb; where Happy meets Waco, Giv’r heads right (east). Giv’r is a very narrow and short singletrack trail that consists of two switchbacks. The beginning of the trail is flat, followed by the start of the ascent up a narrow ledge and into the first switchback. The second switchback quickly follows, bringing you to the junction with Indy 500. If you’re using the trail as a descent, the narrow ledge hugging the rock wall can get tricky so be careful when flying around the 2nd switchback; especially if you have ultra wide bars.

Climbing: The trailhead for Giv’r is located at the junction of Happy Trail (climb) and Waco Connector. As you finish climbing Happy and pop out onto Waco, look for the sign to Giv’r located to the right on Waco. It’s the singletrack trail heading right, where as Waco heads left.

Descending: Access to Giv’r is via Indy 500, located halfway down the trail. It is well marked with a trailhead sign and located to the west of Indy 500.
