The Rotary Loop is primarily a gravel pathway that encircles the Town of Golden and is well suited to beginner riders, families and parents pulling chariots. The Loop, along with several arteries that branch out from the main loop, connect the neighbourhoods of Golden and are generally well marked with maps located frequently along the trails. There is one section that requires a steep climb and tricky descent (with stairs) up to Selkirk Hill (a housing division) but can be avoided by following the signage for an alternate route if you’re out for an easy cruise.
The Rotary Loop may be ridden in either direction and is shared with multiple users; including hikers, runners and dog walkers. The trail is well maintained by the Golden Rotary Club, and winds its way along the Kicking Horse River, through residential areas and treed paths and past Reflection Lake. It’s a mellow loop meant to be enjoyed by all and a good one to take your family out on.

There are many spots along this route to start your ride. If you’re coming in from out of town, exit off Hwy 1 and follow the signs for downtown. Drive over to Spirit Square, located on 8th Ave and park. From there take the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge to begin your journey around Golden.
