The Highline Trail is a challenging x-country ride that takes you along the slopes of Ehagay Nakoda Range and is a locals’ favourite. The trail may be ridden in both directions. Expect plenty of climbing along this narrow and technical trail as it winds its way up elevated slopes high above Peaks of Grassi. The climb up is never easy, as this is one of the more challenging routes in Canmore. A number of breaks in the thick forest canopy offer spectacular views of Canmore and surrounding area on your climb up and while traversing. In total the trail is 8 kilometres in length (west to east); but, one will also need to factor in a few more kilometres to get to one of the four trailheads: the Riders of Rohan entrance, West Connector, East Connector and the Three Sisters entrance.

Riders of Rohan: Park or ride up to the Quarry Lake (Dog Park) parking lot. From there ride south on the gravel road towards the mountain range and power lines. Turn right (west) on the power line road, pedaling about 500 metres to the entrance of Riders of Rohan located on your left. The entrance is a well-worn singletrack heading up the mountain.

West Connector: Park or ride up to the Quarry Lake (Dog Park) parking lot. From there ride south on the gravel road towards the mountain range and powerlines. Turn left (east) on the powerline road, pedaling about 350 metres to the entrance of the West Connector located on your right. The banked corners make this entrance a fun ride out, so watch out for bikers coming down trail while you are pedaling up.

East Connector: The trail starts from the middle of the roundabout at the east end of the Peaks of Grassi community. It climbs at a moderate grade to the Highline Trail.

Three Sisters: The trail starts at the end of Three Sisters Boulevard, heading up and bearing left past a gate. It follows the wooden fence line of the golf course and through a patch of trees between the two golf courses.
