If you like riding skinnies, then the Immonator is your trail. This is a great trail for testing yourself and a fun trail to finish with because it spits you out on Baden Powell just a few 100 metres from McNair Drive.
Almost 1/3 of Immonator is made up of Technical Trail Features (TTFs); from wooden bridges to drops. The old wood on Immonator was rotting and falling apart so it was recently rebuilt into a rock-solid version of its former self. Most of the TTFs are now about 8 to 12 inches wide; however certain sections are much narrower than that and provide a real challenge. Lucky for you most of it is only a foot or two off the ground, making it low consequence. The rebuild pays tribute to the challenging and narrow woodwork that fell into disrepair over the years as the rot took hold and is a testament to the skill of the trail builders on the North Shore, as the trail is both fun and dangerous at the same time. The most challenging move is the roller coaster, about a foot wide and fun as hell. Immonator is worth checking out, just to admire the workmanship, but there’s no point in riding it unless you’re really into riding balance lines (skinny logs, bridges and TTFs).
