Long Distance is an awesome singletrack trail located in the West Bragg Creek Trails network, that winds and switchbacks its way up to connect with Telephone Loop. It may be ridden as an out and back, or combined with either Telephone Loop or Bragging Rights for a fabulous loop.
When starting from the West Bragg parking area ride north on Braggin Rights to connect with Long Distance 600 meters up the trail. From the trailhead Long Distance begins to climb up a few steep inclines, switchbacking for the first part of the climb. The switchbacks provide short sections of gradual grade allowing the rider a chance to catch their breath. After about two kilometres of climbing the trail grade levels out for a short while. The terrain varies along Long Distance making the ride a lot of fun. The rider will encounter long wooded sections along with breaks in the forest offering up some incredible views. At the 2.9 km juncture, the trail meets up with Reconnect and Demi-Tel; providing an option to loop back to the parking lot. Continue on up to the end of Long Distance and connect with Telephone Loop (ride east/right) to head back towards the parking area. I recommend doubling back along Long Distance, for a fun and exciting descent back to Braggin Rights and eventually the carpark.
