Lower Powersmart is an excellent singletrack trail which runs through a very old cut block. Although you’d never know it. The route is now surrounded by lush vegetation and the trees have sprung to life, growing in size and numbers. The trail was heavily neglected for several years as there were no other trails around it and it was kind of out-of-the-way. However, with Plum Smugglers receiving some recent love and the inclusion of these trails, along with Word of Mouth, into the Gear Jammer race, Lower Powersmart has seen a lot of welcome attention. The trail now flows extremely well and is a great extension to several intermediate loop options found in the area.

Lower Powersmart may be ridden in either direction, but it is most commonly done east to west. In this direction, the trail flows up, down, and up again across moderate roots, rocks and switchbacks. It eventually pops out onto an old logging road. Turn left onto the logging road, followed by a right at the first fork. This will take you over to the well signed Plum Smugglers trailhead. Ride Plumb Smugglers to the junction with Word of Mouth and Word of Mouth right (south) down to Quest University. All of these trails are intermediate, fun and flowy, making for a great loop when combined with the Legacy and Fred trails.
