Meat Grinder, as the name suggests, is not for the inexperience or intermediate rider as it can potentially chew you up and spit you out. The advanced trail located in the Mosquito Lake Area and accessible via No Err will challenge even the expert rider with its steep and technical rock moves. The trail begins easy enough with a few short ups, downs and short rocky bits. After a few hundred metres the real descending begins. Rock slabs, jagged rock, loose and steep sections of narrow singletrack are to be found along the trail’s route. While one technical move after another will keep you honest and on your toes. The last bit of trail, just before spitting out next to the rail road tracks, has several tech moves with sharp rocks and large boulders ready to eat all front wheels that approach. If this is your first time riding Meat Grinder, be sure to check your lines and run outs before committing. I’ve seen several riders go down here, especially those not checking their lines first.

Meat Grinder can be ridden on an all-mountain bike by the experienced rider if pedalling up to the trail or on a downhill bike for those shuttling. If you’re shuttling, leave a retrieval vehicle at the gravel pit located on Pemberton Farm Road E. and drive up the Mackenzie FSR for 1.8 km until the fork for Linda Road (gravel road). Take Linda Road right and follow it north to Ivey Lake. At Ivey Lake turn right onto Mosquito Lake Road and park at the Mosquito Lake parking or continue driving to Old Fotsch Road. Turn right onto Old Fotsch and continue up the road to the well-defined pull-off; a short distance from the trailhead for No Err. Ride/push form here to the fork ahead. Take the left fork and look for the No Err trailhead to your left. Push/climb up the steep entrance to No Err and look for the Meat Grinder trailhead to your right, about 240 m up No Err.

Access to Meat Grinder is via the south end of No Err and found about 240 m up No Err on the right (east). Begin by driving/pedaling up Old Fotsch Road to No Err. Take a left at the fork and look for No Err to head left across the field before it begins to ascend a short steep climb into the woods. Just as the climb levels out, the trail will fork. Keep right for Meat Grinder; well-marked about 20 m down the trail.
