Moose Mountain Trail, also referred to as the Fire Lookout, is a gravel fire road that leads to the Fire Lookout point. Bikes are not allowed past the seven kilometer mark, so if you would like to get a better view from the top of the world, then you’ll have to hike it the last kilometer to the top.

The trail offers some incredible 360 degree views of the surrounding mountain peaks and on a clear day one can easily see the City of Calgary to the east. There is nothing technical about this ride, other than the final two kilometer grunt up a loose gravel road that switchbacks up the side of the mountain all the way to the summit.

An out and back trail, Moose Mountain Trail may also be used as a connector to Moosepackers.

To access the Moose Mountain Trail trailhead, take Hwy 66 west from Bragg Creek to the Moose Mountain Road. Drive up to the top of Moose Mountain Road (gravel road) and park before the gate; also referred to as the Fire Lookout Parking area. You will pass the trailhead located on your right when driving up the road. Moose Mountain Trail is marked with a large sign about 200 metres up the trail, just beyond the gate.
