Mount 7, the home of the Psychosis race 1998 to 2008, is an intense, yet awesome place to ride. Designed for the big bike, these trails are not for beginners. Over 13 singletrack downhill trails are located on this mountain, all accessible by shuttle via the 14 km access road (Bowle-Evans Dr.). The top of the mountain, referred to as the “The Launch” is the start of the former Psychosis race, taking you down the expert trail Dead Dog. There is a ride around via the Summit Trail; an intermediate run. There are several downhill trails located mid-mountain, which act as a great warm up to the higher up trails. Start with the 3KM or 5KM trail to get in the swing of things. Or go as high as the 10KM before heading up all the way to the top to take on Dead Dog, if you dare.
Most of the trails in the area are steep, rocky and loose. There are a few Technical Trail Features (TTFs) located on trails like Skid Marks and B-12, but be warned, they have seen better days and should be inspected before use. Most of the TTFs have ride around options. What makes this place so exhilarating to ride are the long descents down some steep fall lines, over large rock drops and boulders. If you find the area too intense, I recommend doing a few laps down True Value (starts at the 3 km mark). True Value is fast, fun and very mellow compared to trails like B-12 or Dead Dog.

A note about shuttling the access road. Please check the Golden Cycling Club and/or the bikepirate Trail Report for an update on the latest road conditions. It is not recommended that you shuttle this road early spring due to the melting snow and ice on the trail which causes major erosion problems. Sections of the access road, past the 5km may be closed to prevent damage in early spring.
