Redearth is an out-and-back doubletrack trail, providing access to some very scenic backcountry hiking near the Great Divide. The trail is a moderate climb all the way to the start of the hiking trails. It’s a great ride for families or for hikers wishing to access the popular hiking trails which provide access to Shadow Lake and Egypt Lake. The trail sees a lot of traffic during the summer months, so please stay aware and give right-of-way to hikers on this multi-use track.

Remember your bear spray and travel in groups, as you are in bear country. And don’t forget to bring a bike lock if your plan is to explore the hiking trails accessed via Redearth. Cycling is not allowed past the 10 km junction.

From Banff, drive west along Hwy 1 for about 20 km and look for the Redearth parking lot turnoff on your left – the turnoff is well marked along the highway. Park in the Redearth parking lot and begin your ride up the doubletrack located behind the gate.
