Southern Flow Loop is located in the West Bragg Creek Trails network, combining some of the area’s best singletrack trails into one large loop that will take most riders between two to three hours to complete. This loop offers everything a rider could hope for. Long steady climbs to some incredible viewpoints, along with fast, flowy and technical descents. The loop is best ridden counterclockwise for maximum flow, but may be ridden in either direction if you’re up for a challenge.
To begin Southern Flow, pedal across the Bragg Creek bridge from the West Bragg parking area. Ride up Ranger Summit, climbing to Ranger Summit. Take a break at the summit to recover from the lung and leg burn, before beginning to descend about 350 metres to the trail junction on your left. Follow this trail (Sugar Mama-unofficial trail; ride at own risk) down a thrilling and fast descent to link up with Snagmore, once you pop out on Elbow Trail – Snagmore trailhead is located across Elbow Trail. Ride along Snagmore’s undulating singletrack, crossing Elbow Trail and Iron Springs in several sections along the way. Once you hit Boundary Ridge, you will climb for another two kilometres before you begin your last fun and flowy descent back to the start of the loop. Watch out for oncoming traffic and give right of way to hikers and equestrians, when out riding in this area.
Please note that significant parts of this loop faces North and sits on poor draining soil. It takes a long time to clear of snow or significant rainfall and should not be ridden during the spring melt or after heavy precipitation. See the trip planning page for info on how to check recent precipitation amounts.
