The Svoboda system of trails is located at the northeast end of town in the West Arm Provincial Park. The area consists of mostly all-mountain/downhill trails that cannot be shuttled. Svoboda Road is used to access the network of trails found in this area. The long and switchbacking dirt road takes you up along private land to the park gate, which is closed to traffic, found halfway up the hill. You will have to earn your turns riding this area. If you are an accomplished rider an all-mountain bike (5” to 6” of travel) will do just great. However, a downhill rig may be a little more fun on some of the more advanced trails if you are a little less experienced.
A full face helmet, knee and elbow pads are recommended for those riding this area. Some of the trails, including Log Jam and Paper Bag, do have a few short sections of pedaling where you might prefer an open face, but once you start your descents, you’ll be happy that you’ve got the extra protection.
Please avoid riding this area in extremely dry or wet condition as not to damage the trails.

Parking to access the Svoboda Network of trails is located off of Elwyn Street. Drive north on Nelson Avenue, turn right (east) on to Elwyn Street and drive past Selkirk College’s Fairview campus (to your left) where the road will turn to dirt. Elwyn Street will turn/connect to Svoboda Road just past the College. Less than a few hundred metres up Svoboda Road you will see the parking lot on your right. The carpark is well marked and signed. Park and ride your bike up Svoboda Road to access the trails.
