Wizard Burial Ground is typically combined with A Rockwork Orange and Korova Milk Bar to form a fantastic descent down from the Flank Trail. However, as this trail is rated expert the route down is more committing than the latter two trails; go forewarned.
Wizard Burial Ground begins innocently enough for the first 100 m, before getting a bit wild and crazy. The trailhead is found 175 m south of Korova Milk Bar, off the Flank Trail. Once you approach the wooden trail sign, about 100 m in on the trail, the first committing line begins. If you cannot comfortably ride down this section, consider turning around now as the trail does not get any easier. Following the steep rooty pitch, the route gets a little rowdy. Tight singletrack down steep rock rolls, huge exposed roots and narrow chutes into 90 degree corners, hugging cliff bans and side hills, are all the name of the game here. The trail is a blast to ride for expert riders that have the skill required to complete this run cleanly. It’s a fantastic ending to the two aforementioned trails and a sweet way down to Whip Me Snip Me from the Flank. Once on Whip Me Snip Me, turn left to pedal up a short climb over to the Rainbow Loop trail to descend back down to Alta Lake Road or turn right to access Lower Beaver Pass.
For the ultimate loop, park your vehicle or ride to Rainbow Falls pull off/parking to begin your ride from there. Combine A Rockwork Orange with Korova Milk Bar and Wizard Burial Ground, and continue north on Whip Me Snip Me to access Binty’s, your final descent back down to Rainbow Falls parking. A great loop taking about 2 hours to complete.
